I Ranked All Of The Best Picture Nominations I’ve Seen


For whatever reason in 2014, I became OBSESSED with the Oscars. Since then, I’ve been keeping a Google Sheet with all of my scores of every Oscar Nomination for Best Picture. I watch as many as I can each year, but some years I don’t get to all of them.

I love looking back at this list. I’m proud of this list. I feel so giddy and excited whenever somebody asks if I have any really good movie recommendations. I pull out my phone and show this list and go through all of my scores right in front of their face and say “Oh that’s a good one… oh shit that’s a good one…” over and over again. People love it.

Scoring is 0-100, and I sort of look at it as grades in school. HOWEVER, I went to Catholic School my whole life and I am better than you for it. Some may not know this, but Catholic School’s letter grades are not the same as public schools. Does it make any sense for a Catholic school to do that? Probably not, so THAT is what we will go by.

A = 93-100

B = 86-92

C = 80-85

D = 70-79

F = 69 and Below

I will randomly change a score if I’m scrolling through the list and feel like a movie should be higher or lower depending on how I feel about it years later. Does that make sense? Who cares. I do it anyway.

Which brings me to this blog. This is my first blog I’ve ever written. I wanted a place to put my actual thoughts on a movie. This way, I can look back at the blog and understand why I gave Captain Phillips an 88. (Doesn’t it feel like that should be higher? So stay tuned for movie reviews of the 2025 nominees. If I finish them all and still feel like doing this again, I might re-watch some movies and give you my thoughts.

  Wow. There it is. My first tweet that broke the internet. And gee-wiz was it a throw-away tweet. I literally just looked up a picture of Tylenol PMs and tweeted from the comfort of my own bed. I Loved Sammy Sosa

The Chicago Cubs long history of honoring legends and fan favorites seem to be missing one guy in particular. In this blog, we are going to talk about the most polarizing superstar in the history of the Chicago Cubs…. Sammy Sosa. If you grew up a baseball fan in the 90s and 2000s, Sammy Sosa was one of the coolest names in sports. He seemed to be larger than life in Chicago with his towering homers, goofy antics and of course, the greatest homerun race in MLB history. However, Sosa was caught up in plenty of controversies, whether it was steroids or corking his bat; causing him to fall from the grace of being a fan favorite and that still hasn’t changed for a lot of Cubs fans in Chicago, including current Cubs owner Tom Ricketts. LIV Golf? More Like LIAR Golf, amirite?

If you're reading this, I'm sure you've heard the news that has rocked the sports world. International sports conglomerate LIV Golf has announced that it will switch its golf tournament format from a 3 round, 54 hole tournament to a 4 round, 72 hole tournament.  Now why does this change make LIV Golf a straight up liar? Well a significant amount of people seem to not know that LIV Golf is named because LIV is the roman numeral for 54. That's right. LIV Golf is now LXXII Golf. Think about all of the little Cleeks or Torque GC  (yes those are real team names) fans going to their parents wondering why the hell this historic format has been changed without a single warning. For some extremely advanced 3 year olds out there, this is all they can remember. Some may be saying that LIV has gone too far with this.
